Leaf Magnets

Materials:

  1. Cardstock or heavyweight paper: The back of a cereal box will do.
  2. Fall leaves; The more variety the better.
  3. Tissue paper: Yellow, green, brown, orange and red.
  4. White glue
  5. Paper plate
  6. Marker
  7. Scissors
  8. Magnets

Directions:

  1. Have children find autumn leaves in different shapes and colors.
  2. Place one of the leaves on a piece of cardstock.
  3. Help children trace around leaf with a marker.
  4. Carefully help children cut out the leaf from with scissors.
  5. Use different leaves for a variety of shapes.
  6. Pour some glue onto paper plate.
  7. Have children tear tissue paper into approximately 2 inch squares.
  8. Crumple each square into a tiny ball.
  9. Dip them, one at a time, into the glue and attach them to their leaf cut-out.
  10. Continue glueing until the entire leaf cut-out is covered.
  11. Set aside to dry.
  12. When glue is dry, attach a magnet to the back of the leaf.
