Paper Bag Octopus

Materials:

  1. small paper bag (one per child)
  2. tempera paint
  3. newspaper
  4. yarn
  5. scissors
  6. markers or crayons

Directions:

  1. Paint the paper bag the color you want your octopus to be.
  2. Let paint dry.
  3. Crumple up a few sheets of newspaper into a ball.
  4. Place the ball of newspaper into the paper bag. Fill about 1/4 full.
  5. Wrap the bag around the newspaper. The round section will become the head.
  6. Tie a piece of yarn around the bag (under the head) to keep the newspaper in place.
  7. Cut the bottom of the paper bag into strips. These will be the "legs" or "tentacles."
  8. Use markers, crayons, or paint to make the octopus' face.
