Yarn-and-Glue Ornaments
Materials:
- newspaper (or white paper)
- pencil or marker
- waxed paper
- stapler
- yarn
- paper cup or small rinsed milk carton
- glue
- water
Directions:
- Cover your work area with newspaper.
- Draw a simple shape on a piece of newspaper (such as a square or circle). Draw a design inside the shape; make sure every line connects to another line.
- Place waxed paper over the design.
- Staple the waxed paper and newspaper together.
- Cut a piece of yarn double the size of the outside edge of the shape.
- In the paper cup or milk carton, mix up a glue solution of 2/3 glue and 1/3 water.
- Dip the yarn in the glue solution. Squeeze it.
- Wrap the yarn around the outside of the shape twice.
- Cut, dip and place yarn along the lines on the inside of the shape. Make sure each piece of yarn overlaps with other pieces so the sculpture will stick together.
- Let the sculpture dry overnight. Remove it from the waxed paper and hang up with a string.
