Bliss Balls

Makes (homes):

28 balls
(about 5 portions with 5 balls each)
Makes about 1 3/4 cups dough.

(about 33 portions with 5 balls each)
Use a 3 quart food processor.


Ingredients (homes):

  • 122 g oats (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 194 g nut/seed butter (about 3/4 cup); for nut allergies, check with parent/guardian to see if sunflower or soy butter can be used
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 12 g coconut (about 2 Tablespoons)
  • 44 g pitted dates (about 1/4 cup)
  • 4 fl. oz. water, as needed

Ingredients (centers):

  • 732 g oats (about 2 quarts 1 cup)
  • 1,164 g nut/seed butter for nut allergies, check with parent/guardian to see if sunflower or soy butter can be used
  • 2 Tablespoons
  • 72 g coconut (about 3/4 cup)
  • 264 g pitted dates (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 24 fl. oz. water (about 3 cups)

Directions:

  1. In a food processor, process oats for 1 minute.
  2. Add nut/seed butter, vanilla, coconut, and dates.
  3. Add enough water to pulse into a soft dough.
  4. Scoop into 1 Tablespoon portions and/or roll into balls.

Serve:

5 balls count as 1 oz. eq. meat alternate + 1 oz. eq. whole grain at snack for ages 6+.
3 balls count as 1/2 oz. eq. meat alternate + 1/2 oz. eq. whole grain at snack for ages 2*-5.
*DCFS regulations prohibit peanut butter before age 2.
Toddler alternative snack: Serve yogurt and oat ring cereal to kids who are at risk for choking.
