Shepherd's Pie

Ingredients (homes):
- 2 pounds ground beef or turkey
- 128 g onion (about 1 cup)
- 1 (22.6 oz.) can cream soup
- 2 Tablespoons ketchup
- 1 (10 oz.) package peas and carrots, frozen
- 4 cups prepared mashed potatoes
- 4 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese (about 1 cup)
Ingredients (centers):
- 4 pounds ground beef or turkey
- 258 g onion (about 2 cups)
- 2 (22.6 oz.) cans cream soup
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 (10 oz.) packages peas and carrots, frozen
- 2 quarts prepared mashed potatoes
- 8 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese (about 2 cups)
Directions:
- Brown ground meat with onion. Drain. Optional: Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in soup, ketchup, peas and carrots. Spread in pan(s).
- Spread mashed potatoes on top. Sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake at 400°F until the center measures 165°F, about 1 hour for a 9x13" pan.
Serve:
1 portion = 2 oz. eq. meat/alt. + 1/2 cup vegetable.
